Do NOT translate Dutch documents here. When translating legal documents, an eye for detail is desirable. I would assume that the person who made this sign is not employed as a sworn translator by this firm, but the translators who are employed there walk under this sign every morning and every evening. I must admit I had used them twice before noticing this. I shall think twice before using them again.

A BAD CASE OF RISING DAMP
Well, I must say it makes a change for me to be taken so seriously.
Actually, the only time I get taken seriously is when I'm joking... or so it seems.
O well, there's more to life than fun, as my dear old grandma would probably have said, if I'd ever met her, that is.

Or is there? Maybe it's the Kesey in me that likes to poke fun, to cock-a-snook at things.Or maybe it was my education. Grammar schools in the 60's were frightful places, where you only survived if you cultivated a healthy disregard for almost everything except yourself.

Anyhow, I am of course indebted to my school for its wonderful libraries, which fed my brain far more than the hapless teachers had ever intended to. For those facilities, and the fact that I was educated in England, in English, I am truly grateful.

I'd like to add a little more recent background at this stage. I must point out that my wife is an Indonesian, and my daughter enjoys dual-nationality, aged five. When she's eighteen, she'll have to decide which nationality she'd like to hang on to, if any of that still matters by then, of course.
